CSR
We want to steadily increase the share of responsible materials in our collections. Our goal is to reach a share of 30% in 2025 and 50% in 2028.
We want to be clear about what we mean when we call some of our materials and products ‘responsible’. Learn more about the responsible materials below.
Organic Cotton
Organic cotton is farmed, grown, and produced without the use of toxic chemicals and GMOs.
This makes organic cotton better for the farmers, the environment, and the consumers.
Recycled Cotton
The recycled cotton used in our products is pre-consumer recycled cotton.
This means that it is made from fabric leftovers from production. This reduces the use of natural resources and limits waste.
Recycled Polyester
The recycled polyester used in our products is pre-consumer recycled polyester.
The pre-consumer recycled polyester used in our products primarily originates from fabric leftovers from production. A small part is also made from recycled plastic products such as PET bottles.
This leads to a reduction of waste, water, energy, and chemicals compared to virgin polyester.
Lyocell
Lyocell is a viscose made with dissolved wood pulp from eucalyptus trees.
It is made with non-toxic and organic solvents and produced in a closed-loop system which can reuse more than 99% of the water and solvents.
ECOVERO™ Viscose
ECOVERO™ is a viscose made from wood pulp from certified sustainably managed forests.
Compared to regular viscose, its production method reduces the energy and water usage by up to 50%.
Recycled Nylon
The recycled nylon used in our products is pre-consumer recycled nylon.
Recycled nylon is made from existing nylon products which are cut up into smaller pieces. These smaller pieces are melted and spun into a new thread.
This leads to a reduction of waste, water, energy, and chemicals compared to virgin nylon.
Recycled Polyester and Organic Cotton Blend
This garment is made in a blend of organic cotton and pre-consumer recycled polyester.
The organic cotton is farmed, grown, and produced without the use of toxic chemicals, pesticides, and GMOs (genetically modified organisms).
The recycled polyester thread is made from fabric leftovers from production and recycled plastic products, such as PET bottles.
Proud member of Better Cotton
We, Brands of Scandinavia are a proud member of Better Cotton.
Better cotton is sourced via a chain of custody model called mass balance.
This means that Better Cotton is not physically traceable to end products,
however, Better Cotton Farmers benefit from the demand for Better Cotton
in equivalent volumes to those we ´source´.
We Brands of Scandinavia are committed to source 25% of our Cotton as Better Cotton by 2025.
Better Cotton’s mission is to help cotton communities survive and thrive, while protecting and restoring the environment.
By buying cotton products from Brands of Scandinavia, you are supporting the Better Cotton Farmers who use water efficiently, care for soil health and natural habitats, reduce use of the most harmful chemicals and respect workers’ rights and wellbeing.
